Today, we are where we are, due to the decisions and actions that we previously made have led us to.
This means that you have “managed” to get to where you are 🙂
Maybe it still doesn’t sound like a very inspiring message, but give me a few more minutes, following this logic. The crux of the matter is that, if you don’t like where you are now, you can start making other decisions and taking other actions, to go where you prefer to be.
Assuming that there is some aspect of your life that differs from how you would like it to be, could it be improved, if you started taking other options and doing things differently? For most people, in most situations, the answer is a resounding “yes”.
Most coaching conversations allow participants to realise that their success and happiness are not dictated by the country or city where they live, their family or genes. This type of philosophy is called “deterministic.”
From the moment someone sees the role we play in our own lives, working with a coach can make your personal goals “come to life”, have greater meaning, and are more motivated to make the changes that are necessary
Acknowledging our role is not easy, particularly our responsibility in those situations when we are uncomfortable.
Good news, you will see that when you take charge of situations, you will feel more empowered and your life will change for the better.
Some tips to start taking responsibility:
- If you don’t like what you see in the mirror, change something. You can start small. You can change your hair, your clothes or even smile more 😉
- If you would like your house to be more comfortable, change it. You can move or replace a piece of furniture, tidy up a bit, get rid of unwanted things 😉 Even if they are small steps, it all helps, bring you closer to a better future.
- Every person is a world of their own. Sometimes the behaviour of others frustrates us. If you really care, ask yourself: what little change can I make to start influencing them? If you don’t care, the suggested change would be to pay more attention to things that you care about 🙂
- If you find yourself rushing things, why not start earlier and give yourself a little more time? Or when you meet others, if you need more time to prepare or arrive at a different pace, why not meet later?
- Choose who you spend time with and find a way to accept others.
- Do you like your job? Do you learn? or do you have good prospects? You can change things in this area too, or look for employment alternatives 😉
Be careful: if you feel like a victim, you are not giving yourself the opportunity to act, address others, involve them in what interests you. Try to be clear about what would make you happy, who you need and how you can talk to them to convince them.
I hope you feel like looking for that first step, in any of the areas that you want to change a little bit, thus taking responsibility for your own happiness.
You’ll see how your life improves!
